Mrs. Mary Lee "Cutie" Stokes, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Elouise Howard passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, after battling pancreatic cancer for over a year. She is survived by her loving children, Pauline S. Goodwater (Bernard) of Awendaw, SC; Allen (Shirley) Stokes of Hinesville, GA; Rev. Rose M. Stokes-Smalls, Awendaw, SC; Margaret A. Stokes-Brown, Columbia, SC and Vanessa Stokes-Tabb of Summerville, SC; nine grandchildren: Jonathan A. Stokes (a grandson of the home), Jerry Smalls, II, Amber Whitney Smalls, Julian Paul Stokes, Daniel Marcus Smalls, Jasmine Lasaine Goodwater, Janelle Patrice Stokes, Briana Devin Goodwater and Tyre David Brown; seven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years Paul A. Stokes; her siblings John Howard, Jr., James Howard, Richard Howard, Herbert Howard, Benjamin Howard, Lucille Washington, all of Miami, FL; Alonzo Howard of Saint Baldwin Place, NY and former long-time resident of Mount Kisco, NY and grandson Allen Gardner.
