Mr. Kenneth "SPIKE" Douglass Gathers, Sr., 74, of the ten-mile community of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 24, 2023. The family invites to to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Garden of Prayer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2537 Highway 17 North, Mt. Pleasant, SC. The Interment will follow at Greater Zion AME Church Cemetery, 4174 Highway 17 North, Awendaw, SC. A viewing will take place on Friday, June 30, 2023, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Rev. Bryan McNeal, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 4129 Highway 17 North, Awendaw, SC.

He is survived by his wife: Margaret White Gathers; children: Kenya Acklin (Emanuel) and Kenneth Gathers, Jr. (Fadlila); grandchildren: Marquies Kinloch, Ke'ana Wright, Benjamin Gathers, and Myles Gathers; siblings: Emily Rye, Patricia Ann Gathers-Jaffary (Nasim), and Alexis Gathers; sister-in-law: Rosa Gathers; brothers-in-law: Francis White (Betty), and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin Gathers and Mary Scurdy; siblings: Malva Gathers, Joyce Gathers, Benjamin Gathers, Melissa Gathers, and Affie Wesson; aunt: Julia Gathers-Ascue; uncle: Lawrence Ascue; mother-in-law: Lucille McBride White; father-in-law: Arthur Lee White; sisters-in-law: Jovenia White, Gladys White Brown, and Shirley White; brothers-in-law: Arthur White, Nathaniel "John" White and Robert Lee White.
