Mr. James Arthur Smalls, 62, of Charleston entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 2026. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Cathy A. Smalls; children: Shakiema McNeal (Brandon), Antonio Hasan Smalls and Evon Esau Overton; grandchildren: Saniya McNeal, Brandon McNeal, Jr., Tyshawn Singleton, Shamoire Edwards, Eron E. Overton, Jr., Christian Daniels; siblings: Angelina M. Frazier, Antionette Allen, Cedric Smalls (Tonya) and John Thurmond (Yolanda); four great grandchildren; aunts: Mable Gibbons (Elder Joel), Judy Howard (Andrew), Jestinner Ruth Smiley, Dorethia Lee (Christopher), Janie Rivers (Jimmie); uncles: Don Brown (Bernice), Robert L Gordon; mother-in-law: Edna Overton, father-in-law: Howard Overton, Jr.; sisters-in-laws: Pamela Overton, Donna Brown, Janine Starr; brothers-in-law: Eric Overton (Angela), Sean Overton, Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews; best friend: Gene Rivers.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Sr. and Annette Smalls and daughter: Tameka L. Smalls.

He was a Supervisor of Abestos Removing for over 10 years.
