Obituary
"I have fought a good fight I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a "crown" of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Some blessings from the Lord are both precious and timeless.
Helen Williams Washington, age 95, was truly one of those precious blossom from the Lord. Her time on this earth began on April 30, 1929, when she was born to James and Elizabeth Williams in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
She was married to the love of her life Harold Washington for 45 years. She was a dedicated member of Saine Luke's Reformed Episcopal Church. Helen loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully even unto death.
From the beginning of her journey, until it ended on Saturday, June 8, 2024, she was always known to be an inspiration to her family and friends. She made her living as a jewelry box maker, but her talent was being a gem. A gem to the community and her local parish. A priceless gem who was open and honest with advice and encouragement to all who would listen. She was a woman of God who made an everlasting impact on all our lives. An amazing parent and caretaker to all who needed a motherly figure.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harold Washington; son: Stanley; daughter: Dawn; grandson: Damien Williams; and brother: James Enoch.
She leaves to cherish her memory an adopted son: Namen Perrion Smalls; grandson's wife: Yolanda Williams; two great-grandsons: Damien Jr. and Zeir; a host of nieces, nephews, church members, friends, and special friends: Francena Edwards, Carletta Davis and Elizabeth Walton.
