Mr. George "Dewey" Stanyard, 61, formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Mt. Rainer, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents: George Dewey Stanyard, Sr., and Hermine E. Payne Stanyard; and sister: Geormine D. Stanyard-Crawford.He is survived by his aunts: Mary Ashe Brown, Glenemae Ashe Johnson, Barbara Payne, Willie Dell (Henry) Taylor, Eunice Washington, Jenny Lou Washington and Rose Ashe Whitney; uncles: John Nathaniel Ashe, Morris D. (Linda) Ashe, Thomas F. Ashe and Cyrus Carl (Demetra) Washington; brother-in-law: Alonzo Crawford; niece; a host of cousins; godchildren; god sisters and god brother; fraternity brothers; and many friends. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 - 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Smith-McNeal Funeral Home - 2119 Dorchester Road - N. Charleston, SC 29405. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Morris Street Baptist Church - 25 Morris Street - Charleston, SC 29403. The Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens - 1308 Mathis Ferry Road - Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
