Obituary

Eugene Capers, Jr., son of the late Eugene Capers, Sr. and the late Geneva Burns Capers, was born in Queens, New York on August 7, 1946. On January 19, 2022, he transitioned to his heavenly home.

His parents made sure that he and siblings attended school to gain a good education. His father instilled in him as well as his siblings, that they must have a trade to make it in the world. Eugene chose "brick masonry". He was a "great" brick mason. You could see the tremendous work he did all over Charleston. His outstanding masonry work is also displayed at his residence.

Eugene attended the Church of Christ at Durant Avenue in North Charleston, SC.
In his spare time, Eugene enjoyed bowling, fishing and shooting pool. His family room was the gathering place for family and friends to shoot pool, watch the games and just have fun being together.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ernest Capers, Barbara Polite, Charles Edward Capers, Peter L. Capers, Sr. and Wilmont S. Capers.

Precious memories of Eugene will linger in the heart of his wife: Anna Ruth Broderick Capers; children: Darrell Troy Capers, Sr., Eugene Maurice Capers, III and Keith Levar Capers; grandchildren: Darrell Troy Capers, Jr., Justin Capers, Galen Thigpin, Teon Spann, Maquel Capers, Makayla Capers, Eugene Capers, IV and KavonAnderson; great-grandchildren: Darielle Capers and Darrell Troy Capers, III; siblings: Virginia Capers, Sheryl (Stanley) Green, Janith (Kevin) Magwood, Laverne Organ, J. Elaine Chisolm and Sylvester Ravenel; in-laws: Patricia Comfort-Capers, Helen Cross, John Broderick, Jr., Hilton Broderick and Lee Broderick; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
