Eddie Gilliard Jr. passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, after a long-term illness. He was 77 years old. He was born on June 26, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina to Eddie Gilliard Sr. and Sarah Gilliard. He continues his life in McClenllanville, SC with his wonderful wife Hazel A. Gilliard which he's been married to for 48 years.


Eddie Gilliard Jr. graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. After graduating he took some time off before finally joining the Army in January of 66. Mr. Gilliard started his journey at Fort Jackson, SC base before being stationed in Fort Eustia, Virginia. In January of 68 Mr. Gilliard was honorably discharged from the Army. However, Mr. Gilliard did not stop there. He was a man that loved his family and providing was a must for him. Mr.Gillliard then went on to do Dredge/ Constructions work. Mr.Gilliard continued in that field until 2005 when his health started to take a turn.


Eddie Gilliard Jr. was the proud father of three children and grandfather to nine grandchildren and a great- grandfather to nine great- grands. He treasured every moment in his role as Grandpy and showered his grandchildren with love and affection.


Eddie is survived by his wife Hazel A. Gilliard. His children LiShanda Gilliard, Catina Rivers, Harry Rivers. And his grandchildren Shakyra Snyder, Kyjuan Pinckney, Tanihya Pinckney , Kevin Gentile, Tyrie Rivers, Destiny Williams, and Deitricka Williams Myra, Nazir and the late Justin Gilliard . Eddie has a host of great- grandchildren that will also hold onto the love and affection he has shown down through the years.
