Mr. Dewitt Simmons, Sr., 90, of Awendaw, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Mr. Simmons leaves to cherish his memopry his children: Rev. David K. Simmons (Dorothy), Dewitt Simmons, Jr. (Veronica), Joelee Simmons, Diviann S. Gilliard, Jenelle Blake (Renard), Chenita W. Miller (Willie), Betty Green, Mae Williams, and Francenia Amiker (Ellaway); siblings: Richard Simmons (Rosabell), Samuel Simmons (Rebecca), Alvin Simmons, and Albertha S. Singleton; sister-in-law, Ruth Simmons; brother-in-law, Henry Whiteside; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Whiteside Simmons; parents: Robert Simmons, Sr. and Josephine Porcher Simmons; son, James Simmons; and siblings: Robert Simmons, Jr. and Rebecca Simmons.

Mr. Simmons retired from U.S. Plywood and worked at Walmart.

The family will not be receiving visitors at their home.
