Mr. Alan Vander Smith, 53, of North Charleston, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Smith will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the Auditorium of Burke High School - 244 President Street - Charleston, SC 29403. Visitation with the family will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Smith-McNeal Funeral Home - 2119 Dorchester Road - N. Charleston, SC 29405. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife: Avia Smith; mother: Lena Mae Riley; children: Dondre Ramone Smith, Avona J. McHoney, Xavier McGinnis and Casedra McGinnis; grandchildren: Ace Robinson and Kerrigan Little; siblings: Ronald V. Smith, Anthony Smith (Sharon), Leonard Smith and Tracey Smith Bailey (Darrell, Sr.); sisters-in-law: Dana Richardson (Curtis) and Renee Price; brothers-in-law: Samuel Price, Jr. (Sharon) and Deslin Price (Marilyn); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: John Smith, Jr.
Mr. Smith was an Assistant Principal at Burke High School.
