Mrs. Andrea Pelzer Andrews Fordham, 73, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 17, 2022. Obituary On June 17, 2022, Andrea Pelzer Andrews Fordham, passed away surrounded by her family as they sang, danced, talked, cried, laughed, and prayed her Spirit into the loving arms of God and her awaiting family. Ding, as she was known and affectionately called, was born July 1, 1948 in Charleston, SC to Asbury and Frances Pelzer Andrews. She graduated from Burke High School in 1966 and attended Palmer College where she studied Business Administration. She traveled to New York to begin her adult life and married Melvin Eugene Fordham on April 17, 1971. After returning to Charleston, she worked as a Pharmacist Technician at the Medical University of South Carolina for several years until she and Melvin moved to Sacramento, California. She began her vocation as an Administrative Assistant working for the California State Teachers Retirement System. During her employment with the Retirement System, Andrea received many accolades from clients for her ability and tenacity to resolve issues when others could not. She returned to Charleston and worked at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine until her retirement. Ding loved plants and loved to shop. Her yard and closet demonstrated the joy she found in growing plants and wearing stylish clothes. Ding LOVED LIFE and lived it well – with a verve that brought an enlivening energy to all she encountered. Ding joins her husband, mother, father, brother Timothy LaMont, and canine companion, Frankie Perro. She leaves to miss her presence – her brother, Asbury Wayne “Bubba” Andrews and his wife Shawnda; sister, Clae Kathryn “Kathy” Andrews White; canine companion Biscuit Denzel; nephews and nieces – Kendall LaMont, Corey Derrel, Andrea LaQuan, Dawntia Michelle (Gerald), Alia Waynette (Rico), Ira Wayne (Samara), Iris Waverly, Sophia Angelica, Venita Aspen and Alexandra Lamé; grand nieces and nephews; aunt, Mary Andrews Tillman; several cousins; godchild, Deidra Louise and lifelong friends.
