Born on July 3, 1952, in Charleston, SC, until his peaceful departure on May 21, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. The beloved son of the late Glasco Butler and his loving mother, Geneva B. Holloway, who grew up with the loving guidance of his grandparents, the late William and Lillian R. Bennett, and his special aunt, Leola Bennett. His journey was enriched by the unwavering support of his special friend, Minnie Partlow. As a proud graduate of Bonds Wilson High School, Perry's commitment to his community was evident through his dedicated work at Suburban Funeral Home in North Charleston, SC, and King Funeral Home in Charlotte, NC. His professional journey was not just a career; it was a testament to his ability to comfort and uplift many, even in their most challenging times of grief and distress. Perry was an accomplished musician; his talents as a saxophonist and drummer were the soundtrack to countless celebrations and quiet moments alike. His love for music was a language that transcended words, expressing his loving, funny, and passionate nature in every note he played. Perry's life was a symphony of moments that reminded us to dance to the beat of our own drums. As a motivational force, he encouraged many to find their passion and pursue it with all their heart. Perry had one sibling who preceded him in death, the late Larry L. Butler. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his children, Shonta' Y. Butler, Teeki Clay, Shanic L. Butler, and Maurice Butler; one granddaughter, Zoe S. Butler; his siblings, Joanne H. Banks (Jethro), Jerry L. Holloway, Charles Holloway Jr. (Joyce), Barbara A. Alexander (Melville), Brenda A. Holloway; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
